Find the river

The river Old Geul is dug up from under the vegetation where it was hidden for years. Apparently, in the 19th century, the river was moved past Wittem Castle, leaving the original course of the Geul dry.

We walked a little and later cycled some on our Eroica bikes. There are more people on the move than to be expected. In our small peninsula is it allowed to spend the holiday. So, despite the lockdown, there are tourists making outings by car and doing groceries in our supermarket. The south of the Netherlands has the most Corona patients and the south of Limburg is densely populated, yet we also have to be flooded with tourists. This is beyond my comprehension.
