Alttarkallio

Once again I went to explore a new location 10 km's out of town. Place is called Alttarkallio (=Altar Rock). I don't know the history of the name, but it's a large hill, quite high and having quite ascetic nature. In many places there were big stones looking like altars and some stacks built of small stones just like in this blip, so maybe that's a reason for the name.

The whole rock area is mostly covered by lichen and some moss. There is growing only low pines or junipers and some of those were dried years ago due of lack of water and nutrients. It looked like a paradise for snakes, due of holes in rocks and stones. Today temperature was low and chilly wind was blowing, hence I didn't saw any. Nevertheless, I liked that bare view.
