Brassica bugs
Out and about again today to the local woods where once again I saw less than 3 people and 2 of those were on horses!!
This is the Brassica bug Eurydema oleracea a medium sized shield bug that feeds on a range of plants in the Brassica family, and true to form these were feeding on Garlic mustard or Jack-by-the-hedge. They are colourful little bugs coming in an assortment of colourways from red to white although some are pinkish and some are yellow (although I didn't see any of those).
They are well distributed in southern and central England although even though I saw at least 70 or 80 today it is not a little bug I see every year.
Grateful today for -
The total pleasure of being able to bug hunt again
The exciting challenge of insect photography.
