Branching Out - SMOA Art Muse

There was so much to see in a day...it was a hard call to pick a shot-but, the Sarasota Museum of Modern Art (future coming) recently launched it's first art installation with the sculptor Patrick Dougherty creating an installation of saplings woven into a wonderful series of enclosures with towers to kick off the development of the Museum and begin the art conversation with Sarasota. They have raised almost all of the funds needed to restore the Sarasota Senior high school building, where they will restore the front and blow out the back with contemporary architecture for studios, a contemporary art musuem and classrooms, etc. It will be a wonderful addition to Sarasota. This is a partnership with Ringling College of Art and Design which is on the leading forefront of art happening in Sarasota and beyond! I am a proud alumni and am so pleased to see the community embrace this preservation and merge it into a contemporary building that would make the Sarasota School of Architects so proud!
