Late Tomatoes
Last spring I bought 4 grafted tomato plants, all the same variety. One had its top half sliced off by a rogue gust of wind as I was carrying them to my car. I rooted the top in water and planted it with the others. It was a bit slow at first, but it soon caught up. While the grafted versions gave up when they reached the top of their stakes the non-grafted top kept going and I hung the top two bunches horizontally over a rope line. They are a good size, whereas the grafted plants produced only cherry-sized fruit at the top. I don’t think I’ll bother with expensive grafted plants in future.
