New friend
My Robin is getting brave! He came to the table while I was sitting in the chair, I have also put worms on the windowsill by the utility room, he takes them but flies off if I move so not managed a photo yet. I can be patient! I have filled the table and windowsill three times today, he collects a beak full, flies off to feed the babies and then back again. Those babies sure are demanding!
It is Alf’s 89th birthday today so I got up early, baked cupcakes and then iced them With his name and age plus a proper swirly design complete with candle. The neighbours on the other side came out and we all sang happy birthday. His daughter had called the local chippy and they delivered him fish and chips this evening, so I handed over a can of cider to accompany it. Apart from a whisky on special occasions that is all he ever drinks. We are looking forward to a big do next year for his 90th! His daughter rang me yesterday to thank me for being such good neighbours. I know how she feels as I lived a long way from my mum and relied on her friends and neighbours, but I do what I do because I want to, and it’s the ‘pay it forward’ ethic that I like!
