Sad Ending Alert

Banana had spent
so long in the sun,
the poor thing had started to peel.
She hadn't a notion
on how to use lotion,
and began to feel slightly unreal.

Though her deckchair supported
the skin she'd aborted,
Banana still felt very bare
as, after some hours,
the birds and the flowers
and bees were beginning to stare.

Now, I have to admit,
she made a fine split,
filled with ice-cream and sweet vermicelli.
And as for her skin,
it's chopped up in the bin,
making compost while I watch the telly.

That lovely lush grass is an illusion: it's a patch of artifical grass in our back yard. Useful for photographs!

Robin came when I called him today and, rather than perching on my hand, hovered long enough to pick up a piece of bacon fat. Then, when Mr PP appeared in the doorway, hoping to grab a photo, Robin decided he might be a better bet and went to the door to befriend him, too. I followed with my bacon fat, and he condescended to have a little more, before flying off again. Can hardly believe he came when I called (just as Pheasant slumped off, disappointed that his squawk and wing waggling didn't scare me off)!

Thanks to admirer and hildasrose respectively for hosting the Silly Saturday and Poetry Month challenges.

Well, it's 5pm and - just like yesterday - the sun has at last broken through the cloud, so we'll head off for our daily constitutional. Enjoy your evening, blipmates.
