Bat pigeon
These are a real rarity in the UK but I'd heard news from the British Incredulous for Ornithology (BIO) that a single male had arrived in Wharfedale - our village, no less. They speculated it was probably down to the abundance of holly berries still left on the trees; their food of choice.
They're nocturnal usually. I was very lucky with this early morning sighting.
