Lily Mere

A real scorcher of a day for April, 23C and not a cloud in the sky. The east wind has finally dropped too.
We wandered over to a lovely wild area nearby, Lily Mere. It’s a big area of small plantations and large expanses of moorland. It’s quite dry after the long period of drought but we counted 60+ green hairstreak butterflies.
Back home it was time to check the beehives, and we were pleased to find plenty of bees and the beginning of some honey stores. It’s been such good weather for them, I think they have been foraging on dandelions as the bit of honey I scraped off is the most amazing yellow colour, I have never seen that before! ( see extra) But then I don’t think I have known an April with weather like this before either!
