Diary of an Edinburgher

More blossom! (Day 40)

No tedium today! Sunny and positively WARM in the front garden - that easterly wind has left us at last. Hazel came over for a natter on her way out for a run.

We set off for the Hermitage about midday, but I didn’t feel as sprightly (I use the term loosely) as the other day, and in fact, gave up just after the duck pond. Archie had gone in through a space in the wall, looking for water, and found a smelly black muddy swamp.  So black muddy legs,  up to his knees! Not a good look. JR declared she’d go straight to the river to wash him, so I said I’d just go home. Good excuse...

I listened to my rather good audio book Jodi Picoult, Small Great Things) while walking, and then sat for another hour and didn’t doze off! I’m really enjoying it. (12,189 steps, which includes the bike).

JR then went for a run. Elizabeth texted and asked if Archie would like a bonus evening walk. Would he? Yes! They went round the Meadows.  And in fact, I popped down too, just to see the blossom, because it doesn’t last for long. It was just lovely, even without Archie. Loads of people just admiring the splendour. Blossom (nature, really) really lifts people’s spirits especially in these trying times.

Trump has excelled himself today. On being told that  disinfectant kills the Coronavirus in seconds, he suggested that people could be injected with it!! And this man is running the country with the largest economy in the world.
