The Crown Liquor Saloon

I've been in Belfast today on business. It's the first time I've had a chance to meet our clients in Northern Ireland; indeed, it's the first time I've ever been to this part of the United Kingdom at all. The weather was really quite horrible though, so between arriving by train this morning from Dublin and leaving in the late afternoon on a rather excitingly bumpy flight back to Leeds, there wasn't much opportunity to explore.

The people I met with were very complimentary about the software so it was a real pleasure to get their impressions and specify out some extra features that they need. I don't often get this glow of satisfaction because I'm almost always working with the applications that are being prototyped or trialled, and dealing with the multitude of issues that are thrown up during development. It's good to be reminded that the more mature software is performing so robustly and reliably in the field. It's easy to forget that when I'm mired in bug-fixing!

I wanted to blip something iconic from Belfast for my journal so, lacking the time to visit the docks, I've chosen this famous landmark. The pub is actually owned by The National Trust! It's claimed to be the most beautiful bar in the world, and is certainly one of the most famous. You can visit the website here.
