Burns supper
For some reason 25 January took me unawares this year.
For you non Scot Blippers, 25-1 is Burns Day - when we celebrate our national bard (poet). It involves eating one of our national dishes - haggis - usually with mashed potato and turnip. It is often washed down with significant quantities of our national drink (you'll know that one).
So tonight I caught up with myself. Since Burns was a radical, I decided to do something different. A cottage pie made with haggis. Usually it would be minced beef in a sauce which is the base for the pie.
The mashed potato topping was different too. Made with olive oil, garlic and some very strong organic Welsh cheddar. That's why it looks a wee bit green - not my cooking.
To be quite honest, it was delicious. To be even more honest, it was not my recipe. I heard it on the radio - although the mashed potato part is mine.
Oh and no whisky. Its Monday. San Pellegrino with some grenadine.
Aye, radical enough...
