Transylvanian Families
What a day !
No 1 has a week of work placement at an Engineers in Ratho. I dropped her off this morning and it was a lovely drive through the countryside, over the canal in the early morning sunshine. I planned to come back to pick her up and bag a blip of the Bridge Inn at Ratho with all the narrow boats lined up. But then the rain came.
By midday it was as dark as midnight. Poured with rain.
No 3 has developed a 'tic'. She's always had a nose twitch which she said was to adjust her glasses, but we've noticed a head twitch occasionally. Since yesterday this has been much more pronounced. When I picked her up today (and after conferring with her teachers) it was quite alarming. I managed to get an emergency doctor's appointment early evening.
I know your sensible head says that childhood tics are common and can stop as abruptly as they start - but the other voice in my head was screaming 'brain tumour!!!!'. Thankfully 15 minutes with a GP who has the time to talk to you and I'm much happier. He doesn't think it's neurological, and suspects she's doing it herself involuntarily.
We've to keep an eye on it. I didn't realise I had a knot in my stomach all day worrying about it until it started to untie this evening when we got back.
Ironically - it seems to have lessened in frequency and intensity since then too.
No 1 has just returned from her days work placement. She's exhausted ! She spent some time today using CAD packages to design her house. When it was commented how good she was at it - she replied 'it's just like Sims!'
Off to my photography class tonight if I can bring myself to battle through the nasty weather.
Here's No 3 playing with her Sylvanian Families.
