Back In The Day

My Dear Princess and Dear Fellows,

Feefs has apparently been going through her old photos. This one was WhatsApped to me today. I think this it is from her 25th birthday party in 2003 when she was living with us.

I remember we took her to Stac Polly on Dublin Street and Caro and me had decided to take her to New York City for a long weekend. Obviously you can't wrap an entire city so instead we gave her an NYC guide book and we printed up some fake "Feefs Dollars" which represented the actual spending money we were planning on giving her.

I can't remember who was there that night, but looking at this picture clearly Lisa came up from London and I can see Choanne* and Lio in the background.

Anyway. The big moment came and we gave her the guide book. Feefs was distinctly underwhelmed. She looked at the book and the crappy little pretendy currency and frowned.

"So... is this for when I go there...?" she asked, puzzled.

She genuinely thought we had just given her a £7.99 guide book for her birthday.

Then the penny dropped. And it was bizarre. In slow-motion her face went red, her lower lip drooped, her face crumpled.

"OH... MYYYY... GODDDDD! I LO-HU-HU-HOVE YOU SOOO MU-HU-HUCH!!"

She had to dash off to the bathroom to compose herself. It's still the best reaction to a present I've ever got.

I don't remember much else of the evening, which is a shame as I'm sure it was full of laughs and cuddles. And that's why I thought I'd make it my blip for the day. It's nothing at all to do with how GORGEOUS I was, back in the day.
