The down train
Another cracker of a day, with not even yesterday's tiny sliver of cloud in the gorgeous blue sky! Went down to the harbour and the lifeboat, same as yesterday, but both of us today. Took quite a few boat pictures, but decided to go with a train picture instead. It was originally planned for the railway to enter Oban from the north, but the landowner objected, so it comes around the town in a huge sweep and enters from the south, down this long cutting.
We can hear the train screeching from our house and have always thought that it did so on a rather steep curve above the town, but today as it slowed down to enter the station, under the bridge I stood on for the picture, it began to screech loudly, so it was obviously the brakes. Unfortunately as it later pulled out of the station it screeched again, so was obviously not! One of life's great mysteries!
Last minute decision - a boat picture as extra!
