Lockdown day 37
There was an 8.30am Sunday morning start for the UK-based people to be in this Zoom catch-up - aptly named 'The IH Budapest Golden Years'. I signed in at 9.30am together with Neil McC in France and Neil A in Budapest and we had one from New Zealand and one from Singapore signing in on Sunday evening there.
We all worked together as trainers in International House Budapest and always refer to those years as the golden years. We worked hard and played hard and we all reminisced about some of the truly great nights and times we had! I left in 2009, Rachel had left before that, but even now this group is still our first port of call for any teacher training questions or plea for materials or help. Am very grateful to be part of it!
On the screen you can see from top left to right: Neil McC (France) me (Spain), Kirsten (NZ), Devon (UK), Sze (Singapore), Neil A (Budapest, Hungary), Rachel (UK) and last but not least Mike C (UK). Sandra (Scotland) and Steve (Sintra, Portugal) were still to arrive when Bb took this pic.
My exercise for today was cleaning the first floor generally and spring cleaning our upstairs bathroom. At the same time, I was listening to Hala, a colleague from Cairo, give an inspiring talk at the IATEFL webinar conference on the trauma of refugees and in her own experience, those from Syria.
Dinner was same as last Sunday - roast chicken with lemon, garlic and rosemary, roasted potatoes, carrots and broccoli. Delicious again!
Before dinner we had a fun video call with two blipper friends in Edinburgh, Arclight and Alfthomas, with a bit of excitement when they were evicted from their flat because of a fire alarm going off and a car fire in the car park!
