Ruth's tulips
Our neighbours up the road have always had a lovely garden. Lots of plants and flowers, but also a huge vegetable patch, laid out neatly and regimented, in rows, and a very productive polytunnel.
They are well into their eighties now and every year they say they are going to do less next year, but they just can't! Up there today, at a distance, and the tulips growing along side the dyke were a picture.
I've already had lettuce, violas, strawberry and tomato plants from them, with the promise of cabbage seedlings and fresh rhubarb at the first of the week! They also gave me a very nice bottle of Strawberry Gin for my birthday, excellent neighbours to have!
