Nineteen mile bike ride this morning with a stop at Toppesfield pump. All above board after the guidance last week that said you can stop during exercise for refreshments provided you maintain social distancing. This obviously because of over zealous officials and the busy body factor.
If you look very closely you will see it is actually two pumps - an installed spare. Our Victorian forebears took the view that for critical infrastructure a reliable back up is required. Unlike today where the accountants whose idea of long term is the next dividend payout have convinced the powers that be to take the profit and if things go wrong buy a new one from the supplier.
