Queensland Floods

It has been a trying few days for Queenslanders. The sun finally came out this afternoon but unfortunately due to catchments and rivers, we are going to see significant flooding for a several days to come. It is strange to see flood waters rising as the weather clears up.

This is the entrance to the carpark of my work. The downstairs level where I work is only about a foot above where the flood waters are today. Sadly last night the were significantly higher. We installed flood doors after the last floods but they failed the first major test. They leaked. Despite the best efforts of the staff that bailed for hours, there was about 2 inches of water through the place.

Looking at it today everyone is hopeful that the main machinery was saved and if there is damage, it will be minor. The worst is that when flood waters move through, they leave a lot of mess. There is going to be a massive clean up over the next week or so.

Us Queenslanders are a resilient lot. We'll just get in there, do what has to be done and get on with business as usual.
