NZ Kingfisher Halcyon sancta

Not a great shot, but I've never managed a good one! Pooba is the expert and takes the most amazing kingfisher shots.

KIngfishers live in holes in clay banks, and sit in prominent positions looking for prey. Of course this makes them hard to creep up on, they see anyone coming from a long way off, so really a hide or somewhere to hide are the only answer.

I see that on BlipBigYear Anth has renamed this bird as Todiramphus sanctus - another bird that's had a name change??
