Bisti Badlands
Bisti Badlands/De-na-zin Wilderness. Again, why do they call it badlands when it is so beautiful? The answer: little to no rain.
Magical, mystical....hoodoos and more.
We have a bunch of these badlands in New Mexico, owned by the BLM (Bureau of Land Management = Federal government). No one lives here; well, almost no one. One home/32 kilometers square. We fled Albuquerque and drove almost 3 hours west. Hardly any cars on a major interstate.
To put this into perspective:
State of New Mexico size = 121, 200 square miles or about 315,194 kilometers squared.
Great Britain is about 94,000 sq. miles or 242,500 km squared
Population of New Mexico = 2 million.
Population of Great Britain = 66.5 million.
The point? Our state has a lot of wide open spaces. Social distancing is no problem if you leave the city and neither speak to, nor see (other than those in a car) anyone. I'm trying not to feel guilty for leaving the shelter.
