Day 24 - Japanese Anemone
Rain overnight - lovely, plentiful, wet rain! The garden is positively singing :D
More trimming, edging, weeding and tootying but alas, no mowing. Maybe if the grass is a bit drier tomorrow the lawn will be treated to a haircut.
Merv didn't show up today so no chance for a re-take of yesterday's pic, though I did clean the van box top in anticipation though so I'm ready for the next time he shows up.
This Japanese Anemone was one of a number who were looking radiant in the late afternoon sunshine. I was drawn in by the shadows of the stamens falling across the petals. The closed bud alongside was a bonus.
In COVID news, today was the first day that we haven't had a dedicated televised press conference to get the updates. Instead, we had a written press release about half an hour later. I found this oddly upsetting - not sure why. Was there something to hide? Were they avoiding press questions? It could be a very innocent decision........the leaders are in need of a rest maybe? Or a host of other reasons.... Nevertheless, to have something that we've come to expect in this crisis suddenly removed with no explanation (or no explanation I'd heard) I'm left feeling a bit edgy....
The press release indicated that we had zero deaths in the past 24 hours which is great, but we've also had a small rise in cases.....from a low of 8 yesterday to 15 today. Maybe yesterday's low was the anomaly.
