The snoggles

We had our fourth writing lesson today, the first three I’ve been going over technique with them and analysing well-known songs they have chosen, looking at the lyrics and the rhyming structures, the melodies and how they build, the song arrangements etc So today I set them some exercises to just quickly write chord structures and melodies and come up with things on the spur of the moment, in a little over half an hour we had come up with four strong ideas, I got them to choose one and we worked a little more into it, so we have decided on a verse and chorus and the middle 8 chords and melody, we have a title and a strong chorus theme so I’ve asked them to flesh it out and then our next lesson we will work more into it, our aim is to get it to a point where we can actually record a version of it in the next few days. I’m really enjoying teaching them things, it’s very rewarding!
