Be still and know

light for the path

This is a path I often take to walk my dog. It starts at the end of my housing community, cuts through a stand of trees, then opens into a field and continues along the tree line.
I never know what we might see along this path. It is an ever changing adventure! Sometimes I see a hawk perched up high perusing the field. One time we saw a coyote here. (I say we because my dog noticed it, too!) Recently I found a geo-cache hanging from a low branch of a tree.
Today I did not catch sight of anything unusual, but I liked the way the slanting afternoon sun lit up the grasses in the field while leaving the woods in darkness. It reminded me to be aware of the beauty of my immediate circumstances rather than worry about what might be looming in the unseen future.
