Then and Now.

This is our 'Local' which burnt down last August, a then and now picture. This pub is still known locally by it's original name 'The Marquis'. It's changed hands so many times in recent years, somehow no one has been able to make a success of it, despite changing the name to 'The Village Gate'. The  last Landlord was making a good go of it though. It was so sad to see it's demise and although we used it, probably not as often as needed to keep it viable. There just isn't the money around these days. it's up for sale and who knows what will happen to it now - probably houses! It had everything, a garden with stunning views, a covered BBQ area, childrens garden, log fires in the winter, little nooks to sit in, a restaurant, basically, you name it, it had it.

The old photograph was a postcard from 1898.

I've added an extra of a wider view ..... Just look at all those signs! Makes you wonder how you can find your way anywhere with this assault on your senses!
