Another chilly morning with a touch of frost lying lightly on the open fields.
Running out of etching primer has done me a favour as it's forced me to take more time filling and rubbing down the parts that I've already painted. Before our Club Skype Meeting yesterday I was looking at YouTube to see if I could get any tips on filling and painting. One American chap had the good idea of thinning filler down using fibreglass resin. I tried this today and it worked well as the filler is more pliable but care must be taken not to add too much or it becomes too runny.
At the end of the day the Bentley looked in a worst state than when I started as patches of the paintwork that have been rubbed down to reveal the paint and filler beneath but as a result the surface is a lot smoother waiting for the next coat when the paint arrives.
I telephoned the Paint Store in Leamington Spa and to my surprise they were open to the public but not trade sales. Their records show the top coat colour they mixed for the Bentley last time but unfortunately they use a different cellulose system now so I will have to take them a colour sample so they can match it. They are on skeleton sfaff at the moment and cannot mix specialist colours until the Virus restrictions are lifted. So I'll use what paint I have and see how far in goes again.
During the afternoon my saddle suspension kit arrived for my bike today. Amazing service in this time of crisis as I only ordered it off eBay on Monday. My cycling buddy Robert fitted one to his bike and thinks it's marvellous so I thought I get one and get it a try. After fitting it this afternoon the springiness seem a little strange but I won't pass judgement until it's fully tested tomorrow morning.
In the evening we celebrated Dominique my Sister in law's Sixtieth Birthday on Zoom. Zoom was amazing as it coped with twenty nine attendees without a hitch and the host can mute all their guests who then can unmute when they want to say something. Dominique had arranged a simple true or false quiz where each guest said something about Dominique and the others had to say whether it was true or false. It all went reasonably well with attendees From England Belgium and Canada.
