Out at Darvel in East Ayrshire today visiting the in-laws aka 'Mo and the Big Chap'. Went for a very quick walk after lunch to look at a big Scots pine that's come down in the nearby River Irvine - a whole bunch of other debris has collected around it causing a huge woody debris dam to form. This is causing the backing-up of water in the channel and potentially helping the river to break its banks in high flow conditions. All quite exciting for me from a 'natural' flood risk management perspective.
