Welcome back Mr Jay

I’ve not seen any of the Jays in our garden for a few weeks now but maybe he just comes too early for me. 
Today I was awake early and as I drew back the curtains I saw him on the top of the pollarded willow tree so ran and grabbed my camera. 
He flew off but soon returned and started scrabbling around in the patch of ground I’d been clearing. We’d removed a lot of ivy from the fence and it seems popular with the blackbirds in particular. 
Last night I spent a long time on the phone to my parents and brother so it was very late before we had dinner and missed out on our games night. So we are doing it tonight instead.
