Domestic Disturbance

My Dear Princess and Dear Fellows,

Cabin fever has not set in properly. Not yet. But we have our moments.

Caro knows that I have a thing about both of us being in the kitchen at the same time. THIS IS THE RULE.

I don't know why I feel this way, but I always have. If I'm in the kitchen being busy and making tea, then I find it annoying if Caro is in there too. In the enclosed space. BEING IN MY WAY.

So while I was making breakfast today I asked her what she wanted for dinner so I could defrost something. She said she wanted steak, but could I marinade it in something?

"Sure," I said. "I'll just take it out to defrost so you can think about the marinade for later."

"Do we have soy?" asked Caro.

"Yes, but I'm just defrosting..."

"Do we have balsamic?" asked Caro.

"Yes, but it really doesn't matter right now because..."

"Do we have lemons?" asked Caro.

And then she was THERE. In the kitchen. Scruffling around with marinade for her frozen steak while I was trying to scramble her eggs and make her coffee and butter her toast.

"Look at us! We're a team!" she said.

"Ssssssssure," I replied.

So we got through it without murder being done, but it was a close thing. I have to admit though, that her marinade was very nice. For a moment there, we were Fanny Craddock and Johnny.

And may all your doughnuts turn out like Fanny's.

S.
