Waterfall Project
one of the projects I plan to attempt this year is to document the local waterfalls and hillfoot glens with film - specifically my Yashica TLR and Fuji Velvia which I think will really do the greens justice. I have the film and the camera - so why do I find it so hard to get this project off the ground? Cost of the processing? Increased risk of failure? Laziness?
Probably a bit of all three, but I think the main reason is the digital comfort zone. I remember from my rock climbing days when I was thugging up an aid route through ground too steep to climb with hand and feet alone, how hard it was to switch back to proper climbing when the angle eased and I no longer needed to step in slings and pull on my ironmongery. Digital photography can be very technical, but it's risk free and gives you instant results. It's very hard to commit to a roll of film that costs money to process and where you won't see the results for ages. I'm nearly ready though..
Oh, and the best running shoes in the world - great on rocky trails but crap on muddy grass .. took a few tumbles this morning - maybe a 9 out of 10..
