Lone tree

What a stunning landscape here on La Palma. We walked along a canal (actually just a water-channel, covered in concrete that you can walk on) which hugs the contours and so allows an easy, level walk away from the roads.

The volcanic landscape is quite lush with vines, cacti, succulents and small shrubs, with only the occasional large tree. I loved the silhouette of this one, standing like a sentinel overlooking the coast-line. Apparently there are smugglers' coves down there. Perhaps tomorrow we'll go looking for them.
