Scones. Glorious wonky scones.
Well the excitement never ends here at Rose Cottage. All week we've been watching Comic Relief Bake-Off. For anyone not from the UK it's a TV program where people bake cakes, pastries, biscuits etc and are judged by Mary Berry & Paul Hollywood, 2 well known bakers. This is the special version where celebrities are baking to raise awareness of Comic Relief. They're mainly pretty rubbish at it, dropping their baked goodies in the floor, adding the wrong ingredients with amusing results & making Mary & Paul grimace, giggle & generally try to look for the good in each item.
I've not done any baking for years & years. But watching it made me want to. So today I decided to start simple & tackle making some scones.
After an hour of small scale chaos, flour all over the kitchen and some nail biting staring in to the oven these (albeit wonky, different sized) scones appeared. They needed a little more salt but apart from that when eaten warm & smothered in butter they were pretty good.
Even though I say so myself. Yum.
