21 Years And Still Waiting

I remember when this was the coolest spaceship around, with the possible exception of the U.S.S. Enterprise. The Dinky Toys Eagle Transporter was one of the toys to have. I was the proud possessor of one. There were several different versions made in different colours and with several different pods in the freighter bay. Of course, the Eagle Transporter stopped being the coolest spaceship when the Millennium Falcon came on the scene. But, interestingly, a early concept version of the Millennium Falcon was rejected because it looked to similar to the Eagle Transporter. (The guys at Industrial Light And Magic know cool when they see it.)

Anyway, I was up early to finish this painting and I may get started on my next painting in this Gerry Anderson vehicles series, probably with the S.H.A.D.O. Interceptor (another "must have" Dinky Toy back in the day.) Still, Space: 1999 ; what a great show! Martin Landau and Barry Morse played their roles with utter conviction and, on top of the great action, great vehicles and top-notch S.P.F.X, there was another incredible soundtrack by Barry Gray.
