Bishop Simon Barrington-Ward

Bishop Simon Barrington-Ward passed away today at 89. He was Bishop of Coventry in the 1980s, an RAF officer as a young man and subsequently honorary chaplain of Magdalene College where he was an undergraduate in the 1950s. In between all of that, he worked around the world for the Christian Missionary Society and wrote many books and sermons.

As an undergraduate in Cambridge and member of Magdalene College Chapel Choir from 1998-2004, I was fortunate to get to know him and to be influenced by his wisdom and patience. I recall his services with great affection.
