Whitewater!

After a 7 mile (11 kilometer) bike ride north, very temping to jump in with a mask and snorkel, might be just deep enough.  This is the closest you can get to whitewater without heading hours north to Taos, NM.  This is an acequia and one of the few places the water drops fast enough to make "rapids."

An acequia or séquia is a community-operated watercourse used in Spain and former Spanish colonies in the Americas for irrigation


The extra: shows: looking south, paths along the waterway left and right = walkways or access roads.  You can see the paved bike trail furthermost right (west).  Even further west, a crusher-fine trail offers a more challenging, but tree covered bike route my personal preference
