Wind Power!

Had to pop and get new tyres for the car today, and we pass the wind turbine on the way. It's the only one in the local area and fascinates me as most engineering structures do.

It's been part of our local landscape since 2005. At 85m tall with a rotor diameter of 70m it generates 3.5 million kWh a year, enough electricity to meet the needs of just over 1,000 local homes and businesses.

An awesome structure, I love to hear the 'whoosh' as the rotors turn...
