ABSTRACT THURSDAY - FOOD

We decided to go out for a walk later today, so when I looked up the theme for today’s Abstract Thursday challenge, and saw it was food, wanted to do something a bit different to just a plate of food, so I went out into the garden to have a look round.

I took several shots of leeks, chard and even noticed that the blueberries were flowering, but the lovely, bright pink shoots of our rhubarb caught my eye, so here they are, taken using my KaleidaCam App and once again, the selfie stick came in useful, because it meant I didn't have to bend right down.  I feel a crumble coming on very soon - if I can get some flour!

Mr. HCB had told me earlier in the week that the rhubarb was looking good and he was quite right.  I asked why there appeared to be more and why it looked so much better this year and he explained that last year he just left it without picking any, so it has obviously paid off.

Had a bit of a ”down” day yesterday - not sure why, but I feel much better this morning and  am looking forward to going for a walk a bit later.  We haven’t been round the nearby lake yet, so that is a possibility.  

We are still ploughing our way through Downton Abbey and are now up to Series 4;  we are really enjoying it again, although there is so much we had forgotten, but it was a few years ago that we first watched it.  I remember when two of our American friends, Connie and Clark, came over to England almost four years ago, we took them to Bampton, and although we had been through many times, it was the first time we had really looked around this village.  However, now when we see scenes in Downton Abbey, we remember that visit with our friends, which brings back such lovely memories.

We have still not been out to do any shopping, but are very grateful that our neighbour’s daughter and her husband and other friends are happy to get anything we need over and above what will be coming in our online shop next week.  However, if it’s anything like the last one, there will be certain things that are still missing, as there seems to be a nationwide shortage of flour and yeast.  

It’s Maundy Thursday today, so we will be joining with some of our Church family for a virtual Communion Service this evening, before going out to Clap for all Carers at 8 o’clock.  Have a great day and stay safe and well.
