A time for everything

More of the same!

Wednesday
Back to the bike trail today, starting from Morrow. This took us under the striking Jeremiah Morrow bridge, central picture, which carries the I-71 (motorway to English readers) across the Little Miami River valley. The bridge constitutes a pair of concrete box girder bridges built between 2010 and 2016. The bridges are named for former Governor of Ohio Jeremiah Morrow.
The bridges are 239 feet  above the river, making them the highest bridges in Ohio, and are 2,252 ft long. These spans replaced the original Warren Truss bridges which were at the same location and were opened to traffic in 1965.  The original bridges were of a similar design and age as the I-35 Mississippi River bridge which collapsed in 2007.
Wildflowers were once again in abundance, Virginia bluebells again at the top, and Dutchman’s breeches and purple phlox at the bottom. Another great ride. Today we reached a high of 80F, but as I write this a cold front is passing through with thunderstorms, and tomorrow will only be in the mid 50s - Spring in southern Ohio! Tonight’s storms, including a brief tornado warning, put us in mind of the April 9 1999 F4 tornado which passed through our area, sparing our immediate neighborhood, but hitting areas less than a mile away, destroying over 90 homes and killing 4. We remember the date as it was our wedding anniversary!
