Today was the big day when I visited the supermarket for the first time since NZ went into lockdown.

Armed with my list and shopping bags I was standing in queue on ‘my’ blue X on the footpath waiting for the doors to open at 9am. 

Everything was orderly and organised. Numbers in the store were limited and as one customer exited another was permitted entry.

Only one person per family ‘bubble’ could shop. For speed and reducing time in store all groceries had to be repacked into the trolly to be packed straight into the car in the carpark - thankfully it wasn’t raining.  Trollies were being sanitised for each customer, as were our hands on entry and exit. 

Generally the shelves were well stocked - even limited quantities of flour and sugar were available. Noticeably, soap and hand sanitiser shelves had gaps. Restrictions applied to popular basic items, but generally not too restrictive. The only item on my list unavailable was vanilla!


My Extra shows the cluster of small planes from the Flying School which is located in a corner of the local Motueka Airport. We stopped for a few photos as we returned home from delivering groceries to my mother-in-law. 
The wonderful cloud formation gradually blended into a dense grey coverage as the day progressed - and now my garden is smiling as it is raining. It didn’t last long, but every drop is welcome.
