The Merrywalks Centre under lockdown

Wilko and Home Bargains are still open. All the other smaller shops are closed, and building work has come to a halt. In the middle, between the two shops, is a dark confusing mass of new lockup  (in the traditional sense) food selling food. Some of them have their names up already: I noticed the Gateway to India. The Gate remains firmly closed.

The idea was to revamp the main entrance (seen here) and build a Borough Market style food hall in the middle, with the food shops. The two larger shops already mentioned will remain, and other smaller retail units will open or reopen.

Goodness knows what will happen now. I'm blipping this because I've blipped the 1970 Merrywalks shopping centre at various stages of the rebuild, but none as grim as this one.

I actually went to Wilko to buy some storage boxes. I am STILL reorganising  that cupboard of nightmares in my study. It has become an Arts and Crafts cupboard. The amount of projects I've started and failed to complete is humiliating , but then of of course I don't tend to keep the finished ones in the study, do I? Many have taken wing.
