Many colours *
Decided it was time to put my felt to good use: rather than making a coat I made a rainbow collection of teddies to hang in one of our front windows.
It was cold this morning but warmed up this afternoon and I headed over to the Black Spout Woods for walk. They were busier that usual but it is easy enough to observe social distance and I also took quieter paths. I even spotted my first bumble bee.
It was good to feel the sun's warmth and I find it hard to criticise those without gardens who took advantage of the warmer weather to sit in a park whilst maintaining social distance from others. Surely there is a way to manage this so that people can enjoy sitting in the sunshine for a while when out for their daily exercise.
However both the Chief Medical Officer and the governement deserve criticism today. It was extremely ill-judged of her to visit her property in Fife not once but twice and it was also ill-judged of the government to allow her to stay in post - at the very least they should have announced she will take a back-room role from the outset (as has now happened). However there are other advisers and experts and no-one should be irreplacable. The press briefing this afternoon made for uncomfortable viewing and the focus on the CMO's action meant that other important topics including care home deaths were not explored.
We watched Contagion last night, a film about a pandemic made in 2011. There were some big differences in the scale of the pandemic and the response but other aspects were all too familar.
