Wu Hop Trading Co Ghost Sign

The Wu Hop Trading Co was started by Arthur Lock Chang in the 1960s to import and distribute seafood, especially prawns, to Chinese restaurants in Sydney. As well as being a trade consultant, Chang was a seaman’s union activist, promoted Chinese cultural tours and became president of the Chinese Youth League. 

Wu Hop is apparently a phonetic rendering of the Chinese characters at the top of the sign.

The building later became Oceanic Sea Products, but is now up for lease.
