Chubby fellow

It was great to get out into the garden and do some clearing and getting ready for spring planting.

And I found several of these fat squishy things. I guessed they needed protecting so I hid them under a log pile but not before taking a photo so that I could ask what on earth they are.

So husband of good friend and blipper JenMoor64 said that it was either a cockchafer grub (a.k.a. a maybug) or a stag beetle grub. Ok. Fine with me. Not nice to look at though.
