Mysterious Plant

Had a walk around Tavistock today in some lovely sunshine, bit cold but nice and dry and spotted this strange but amazing looking plant in a garden on the way home, so had to blip it.

Once again I'm hoping my lovely blip friends can tell me what they think it may be - it kinda looks like it should be a saffron tree with the colour of the flowers but I know that comes from the crocus flowers.
