Diary of an Edinburgher

Self Isolation Day 17

The usual walk round the Links with Arch this morning. We met the three legged dog that he always barks at (from the safety of the other side of the road) and they got on fine. The dog lost his leg when he was bitten on the paw by another dog and got sepsis. It doesn’t hold him back though. We also met another one he's not friendly to from across the road - a wee Border Terrier called Maggie, and they had a friendly sniff.

Elizabeth left some chocolate on the bench this morning, and the neighbours brought milk this afternoon. There was only had a wee bit of milk left, but just enough for JR to make blueberry muffins for the neighbours. And NO extra ones for us. She'll make something for Elizabeth soon.

JR did her exercises. She tried Joe Wicks, but my goodness, what a racket he makes!! He SHOUTS all the time and NEVER shuts up! So she will not be becoming one of his over TWO Million subscribers...

JR took Archie out in the afternoon, while I listened to a couple more 'Conversations'. Very interesting about the 2011 floods in Queensland, where whole towns were washed away, and how they rebuilt Grantham (I’ve just started that episode).

The days are a bit same-y, aren’t they? And they'll get a lot same-ier yet.

Edinburgh Festival cancelled. This will be devastating for the city, but I suspect, if we're out of lockdown by then (surely!!!) then there will be unofficial stuff going on. But NO Military Tattoo, so the over 200,000 tickets already sold (they're released before Christmas and snapped up) will have to be refunded.

563 dead today, including the youngest - 13 years old. And a medic who had retired but answered the call to go back and help the NHS. But they're not being provided with the proper equipment. Scandalous.
