Late again, so dashed up the road with the fishy.
The Great Western Highway is on the right.
It's unusual not to see several trucks hurtling through town.
Govetts Leap Rd on the left, and standing guard over us all, even in its diminished state, is the New Ivanhoe Hotel.
I used to think it was incredibly ugly, but I must be
going soft in my dotage, because I don't mind it at all.
Inside is all cream and mission brown, a legacy from the days when the pub was full of smokers.Since there've been no smokers inside the pub for thirteen years, there has been opportunity to update and brighten it up a bit, but the publican seems to think it would be heresy to change anything.
It does have a wonderful mirror, and the women's loo has a wonderful curved entry.
As does the women's loo in the other pub in town.
Funny that.
The curve is flattening, but this news was tempered by the fact that the virus will not be defeated before the arrival of a vaccine, probably in eighteen months.
