Ice ribbons
My husband and I found these ice ribbons while hiking the knobstone trail. We are involved in a hobby called geocaching and I often find myself standing in the middle of the woods freezing my butt off with him while hunting down little treasures! It is an amazing sport and one that I am certain many of you would enjoy! Check it out, it's worldwide!! When I saw this I had no idea what it was, I only knew it looked like ice had GROWN from a stem. I snapped the pic and looked it up as soon as we got home. Turns out, many people look for these ribbons just to photograph them! They are a result of the ground being below freezing temps and the air above freezing temps. This factor causes the stems of dead branches to "grow" ice! It's amazing!
