Sunbathing

The humble and very common Mallard enjoying the rare sunshine down by Louth Canal. Went for a walk along the canal bank this morning. We were bombarded by hungry ducks but hadn't taken any bread for the poor things. Actually I think they do very well as it is a popular spot for children to feed the ducks.
The canal looked lovely as we had more snow (last of the winter I hope) and everything looked white and fresh in the sunlight.
No sighting of the kingfisher today but we did see 3 cormorants up in a tree. Have never seen them by the canal before - they must be hungry. Pity they look so like vultures!
