Barrier run
Another Woolwich and riverside run, but this morning's was not diverted due to high tides.
Got the run in early so that I could be around for Helen. She had an operation for breast cancer at King's College Hospital in Denmark Hill today. We had kept this pretty much to ourselves until the last couple of days, but as working from home is likely to be the norm, it made sense to tell Orla and Gus.
Helen was distinctly "off-colour" when I went to collect her from King's day surgery unit - not only was she in some discomfort from the operation but she had been injected with blue dye!
The hospital was all very tense, she said. The coronavirus outbreak is top of everybody's mind, and the hospital is gearing up for 100s of admissions. Non-essential appointments are being postponed (thankfully, oncology is not affected yet, but we do wonder if her radiotherapy, scheduled after Easter, might be hit).
