Oriental Bay Today
This area is just a bark from where we are living and as you can see the walking areas are large and this morning largely deserted.
We, The Boss and ME, went staggering this morning and we did overshoot our usual target by taking a wrong turn so got to 12K which means that ice cream (no added sugar) is definitely on the menu tonight but this mornings lighting was wonderful. See extra. (The boat is the Interislander which is now largely carrying freight as travel is not allowed.
TTTT
First up just a quick tip about horizons as we have a couple of them today.
Generally you should avoid having them in the middle of a frame. It essentially “cuts the image in half” There is usually a part of the image that is more powerful so it is sometimes better to emphasis that.
One of the interesting things about photography is that all humans see images the same. We may write and read differently but we all see images the same and because of that, certain “rules” have propagated around this.
I feel the word “rules” is completely wrong. “Concepts” is a better word.
And a concept is just that, so feel free to change it. That’s what makes this hobby so much fun.
Now as promised here’s the guff on the iPhone shutter.
Tap the button on the screen.
Tap one of the volume buttons on the side ( Wonderful if you have the iPhone on the ground for that “low angle” shot)
Tap the “Self Timer” (looks like a clock) icon at the top (or side) of the camera screen) and set to whatever you need for a complicated selfie where you have propped the camera up somewhere OR if you want to just hold it somewhere where you cant reach a button. (Very high or low)
Squeeze the volume thingie on the AirPods cord. Thats the ones with wires) Wonderful for street photography.
Oh and The Boss says you can buy a blue tooth thingie that fires the shutter too but I think the AirPod trick is better and you probably already have a set.
